This week, Reid’s Heritage Homes proudly welcomed homeowners, community partners, and local leaders to celebrate a major milestone: the official recognition of Sunrise Grove, our newest community in the beautiful town of Fergus.
Although the weather didn’t quite cooperate, the energy in the air was undeniable. As President Ron McMillan joked, “It’s better than snow!” And truly, nothing could dampen the excitement surrounding this project and what it means for the future of Centre Wellington.
Building for a Growing Community
Centre Wellington is preparing for remarkable growth, with the population expected to rise by more than 80 percent over the next three decades. With this growth comes an increasing need for sustainable and attainable homes that reflect the needs of today’s families.
Sunrise Grove is an example of the “missing middle” housing so many small municipalities require. Featuring 112 thoughtfully designed townhomes, the community blends modern comfort with the charm and warmth of small-town living. Here, homeowners can feel connected to nature, to neighbours, and to all the things that make Centre Wellington such a special place to call home.
A Partnership That Works
We were honoured to welcome Mayor Shawn Watters. His support and collaboration, along with Centre Wellington’s dedicated staff and council members, have been essential to the success of this project.
As Ron shared during the celebration, “Not every Developer and Municipality relationship is harmonious, but Sunrise Grove is proof that when developers and municipalities work together, everyone benefits.”
Sunrise Grove stands as a testament to what can be accomplished when both sides share a vision and work collaboratively to bring it to life.
A Vision Achieved Ahead of Schedule
In October 2024, our Development and Construction teams were given an ambitious challenge: complete the entire Sunrise Grove community in just ten months. Anyone familiar with the construction industry knows that this is an extraordinary undertaking.
True to form, the team rose to the challenge. With the support of municipal staff and our dedicated trade partners, the crews remained focused, determined, and united. Their efforts paid off in an impressive way. They not only achieved the ten-month goal but surpassed it, shaving four months off the schedule and welcoming the first homeowners in under ten months.
This achievement reflects the power of teamwork, shared purpose, and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
Honouring Our Homeowners and Partners
We extend our sincere gratitude to the homeowners of Sunrise Grove. Many joined us at the celebration, and their enthusiasm and trust have played a vital role in making this community what it is today.
We also recognize our trade partners and construction teams, whose expertise and craftsmanship are visible in every detail. Their dedication and pride have shaped Sunrise Grove into a community to be truly proud of.
Supporting the Heart of the Community: Centre Wellington Food Bank
Community is more than a place. It is the way people support one another and the care they offer in times of need.
That is why we were especially pleased to welcome Laura Alessio from the Centre Wellington Food Bank. Laura and her volunteers provide essential resources along with compassion and dignity to individuals and families across the township.
In recognition of their vital work, Reid’s Heritage Homes was honoured to present a $10,000 donation to support the Food Bank’s ongoing efforts. This contribution reflects the commitment of Owners Tim and Charlotte Blevins, as well as our entire team, to giving back to the communities where we build. It is our way of saying thank you and ensuring that families in Centre Wellington continue to feel supported during difficult times.
Looking Ahead
Sunrise Grove is far more than a collection of homes. It is a community built on partnership, collaboration, and a shared belief that great things happen when people work together.
We are incredibly proud of what has been accomplished, grateful to everyone who contributed, and excited for the bright future ahead for Fergus and Centre Wellington.
Welcome home, Sunrise Grove.
