At Reid’s Heritage Homes we see customers from many walks of life looking for their new home sweet home. Some are purchasing their very first home from us. This was the case for Philippe and Antoinette, who recently purchased their first home together at Westminster Highlands in Fergus.
Philippe thought the place where they are starting their new life together would be the perfect spot to propose. He even set up a unit under construction with roses in the shape of a heart – how romantic!
Chris Roth, one of our New Home Sales Consultants at this community, was in on the plan. He called the couple to inform them that something was “wrong with the purchase.” Once onsite, Philippe took it from there and she said yes!

To whom it may concern,
I just wanted to take a moment to share a part of my experience as a first time home buyer. My partner and I have been looking at homes in Guelph and the surrounding areas for almost half a year when we walked into the model home at Westminster Highlands in Fergus. We had been to several open houses, had been outbid on a few houses and had gotten to a point where we walked into houses with a sense of self-defeat and negativity. Things changed that one Saturday morning when we walked into the model home and were greeted by Chris Roth, the sales agent. Chris greeted us with a smile, made us feel welcome and answered all of our questions. He dedicated more of his time to us than was necessary, and he did it with a smile. He told us about how he had bought a home in the development, which really made us see that he believed in the quality of the homes and the location. Impressed by his salesmanship, the community and let's face it, the price, we decided to put pen to paper the next day. In the following weeks, Chris was subjected to many calls, emails and text messages containing more questions and worries as well as visits to the model home with various members of our families that wanted to see where we were going to be laying our roots. Chris was always honest and approachable, always making time for us.
While we were finalizing the upgrades for the house and waiting for the “Is” to be dotted and “Ts” to be crossed, I decided it was time to make my partner my wife. I approached Chris asking if he would like to play a role in one of the biggest events of our lives. It was only fitting, since he had played such a role in us finding our first home. Chris demonstrated great creativity and flair for the dramatic while we sent my partner on an emotional rollercoaster ride which ended with me getting down on one knee. Afterwards, when we returned to the model home, Chris greeted us like family, with joy and pride.
I have known many great salesmen in my life, and Chris is definitely a great salesman. He is also a great person. If he is a reflection of Reid's Heritage Homes, then he is definitely putting the company's best foot forward.
